My goal as an artist is to create paintings that allow the viewer a meaningful interaction with the piece. I draw inspiration from many sources including personal experiences, multi-cultural symbols, popular myths and legends, art history, and my own over-active imagination. This allows me great freedom to create a scene that has deep personal meaning but at the same time, it allows every viewer to personally relate to the work.
My process starts with a prosaic scene or object. I then incorporate an emotion or mood creating a stylistic representation that blends imagination and reality. I try to incorporate relevant and timely political or social themes into my work regardless if the subject is figurative, objective, or abstract.
